Happy Fathers Day

We thank God for ALL our “fatherly” men on this special day, whether or not they are biologically a father. Remember that St. Joseph, Jesus’s foster father, was a great example of what being a father means. Although not biologically Jesus’s father, he was the steady, stable, fatherly figure that God, “Our Father, who art in heaven,” chose for his Son, Jesus. As St. Matthew’s Gospel says, Joseph was a just man. May we all emulate his humility, work ethic, and faith. Thank you gentlemen, for all you do for us.

GRASS CUTTER(S) NEEDED

For as long as I’ve been at HSP, Walt Boehler has graciously cut the grass at HSP school and rectory. The time has come, however, for us to thank Walt one last time for his helpful volunteer work, and to pass the reins on to someone else. The amount of grass is not great, but needs to be maintained. This would make a great service project for one, or more, of either of our parishes’ youth. Please contact HSP office.

Church Renovation Pictures

This comment was made to Fr Dan recently: “Please tell my relatives that I didn’t hit the PA lottery!” Apparently a number of parishioners have said, “If I ever hit the lottery, I’m going to have the church painted.” And this has caused some confusion as to who is actually paying for the church painting! Now from my lips/keyboard to your ears/ eyes, please know, “Not the PA lottery, but our Diocesan insurance is paying for the church painting!” We do have a benefactor, however, the Diocese. It is primarily “self-insured,” and it could have denied our claim, or just paid part of it (for example, scaffolding & cleaning only), but it is paying for ALL the scaffolding, cleaning, & painting! We thank the Diocese for good stewardship regarding our Parish Share/insurance monies, & our parishioners for your contributions, so we can pay our insurance premiums. P.S. If anyone does hit the PA lottery, please come to see me, we’ve got a long wish list!

 12th Sun [C] 2013
They come here all clothed in white, many times wearing long white garments passed down through family generations, white baptismal garments that dress up baby boys and baby girls with no gender distinction except for their names. For as we just heard in St. Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians: For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
